This year, join us as we recognize Michael Oatman for all of his remarkable accomplishments as a champion of contemporary art in the Capital Region. Enjoy delicious hors d'oeuvres and drinks from Mazzone Catering and help us honor Michael Oatman on an evening to celebrate art in the Capital Region. Join the Albany Institute for a tour of the Empire State Plaza Art Collection housed in the Corning Tower. 
 
Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller, in recognition of the importance of the arts and the emergence of New York as the home of many of America's most innovative and talented artists, began plans for the Empire State Plaza Art Collection in 1961 and the first purchases were made in 1966. This collection features the work of artists who practiced in New York during the 1960s and 1970s, and is the most important State collection of modern art in the country.

2018 Albany Book & Paper Fair

This event is held off-site at the Polonaise Banquet & Conference Center at the Polish Community Center in Albany, New York.

This year's event will feature antiquarian books, manuscripts, autographs, first editions, ephemera, photographs, postcards, posters, antique maps, and prints.

The Albany Institute of History & Art’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the 2018 Museum Gala. This year’s gala will be held on Saturday, June 16 with with dinner in the museum galleries for the first time in a long time. We will celebrate the museum’s award-winning exhibitions and programs.

Phoebe Powell Bender is our 2018 Museum Gala honoree. Recognized as an immensely accomplished and devoted volunteer within the non-profit community, Phoebe has worked tirelessly with countless boards and organizations to support the arts, public policy and reproductive health for over 50 years. 

The annual gala is Albany Institute’s largest fundraiser in support of our exhibitions and educational programs. This year’s gala will celebrate the museum. There is no better way to experience this celebration than to have dinner in our beautiful galleries, surrounded by artwork. It promises to be a night to remember. The evening will begin with cocktails followed by a lovely seated dinner from Mazzone Hospitality. Auctions, pop-up exhibitions, and surprise entertainment will be part of the festivities. This year’s gala will be a truly memorable event as we continue to support the museum’s future.

Tickets are $225 each for AIHA Members and $275 each for Non-members. You may join us in honoring Phoebe Powell Bender by joining the Honorary Committee at the Junior level (40 & under) at $300 each, the Patron level at $350 each, or the Benefactor level at $500 each. The Albany Institute of History & Art’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the 2018 Museum Gala. This year’s gala will be held on Saturday, June 16 with with dinner in the museum galleries for the first time in a long time. We will celebrate the museum’s award-winning exhibitions and programs. Phoebe Powell Bender is our 2018 Museum Gala honoree. Recognized as an immensely accomplished and devoted volunteer within the non-profit community, Phoebe has worked tirelessly with countless boards and organizations to support the arts, public policy and reproductive health for over 50 years. She was honored as a SUNY Albany Laureate in 2004. Her dedication to volunteer work is especially evident from her longstanding history with the Albany Institute, which first began in 1962 when she became a member of its Women’s Council. She joined the Board in 1983, was elected vice president in 1984, and served as president from 1986 to 1991, making her the first woman president of the museum since 1791. Today, she remains a dedicated supporter of the Institute as an associate member of the Board and library volunteer.

This year’s gala will celebrate the museum. There is no better way to experience this celebration than to have dinner in our beautiful galleries, surrounded by artwork. It promises to be a night to remember. The evening will begin with cocktails followed by a lovely seated dinner from Mazzone Hospitality. This fun, regional craft beer tasting is a fundraiser for the Albany Institute of History & Art and it's an opportunity for the community to see brewing and distilling artifacts from the museum's collection, hear from industry experts, and receive a commemorative glass.

The friendliest fundraiser of the year to benefit the Albany Institute of History & Art! Enjoy a regional craft beer tasting as well as an exhibition of local brewing history and a special program, Brewing Beer in a Melting Pot, about brewing history in Troy, New York.

Hudson Valley Hops 2018 will feature a one-time blind taste test featuring session beers from craft brewers in the Hudson Valley. Hosted by Steve Barnes of Times Union Table Hopping, with Jess Briganti, Weekday AM Weather Anchor for News10 ABC; Spectrum News/AlbanyArchives' Matt Malette; and Deanna Fox, local food writer as judges.

Hear from David Mulholland, whose family helped shape brewing history in Troy as Stoll's brewing, during a program called Brewing Beer in a Melting Pot. You'll also have the chance to help choose the 2018 People's Choice, and we'll have food from BMT Hospitality.
